Lahti endures change as the European Green Capital 2021
The European Green Capital Year in Lahti was officially launched with a virtual Handover and Opening Ceremony on Friday 15 January 2021 . The year 2021 is an opportunity for Lahti to showcase Finnish and European green innovation. The European Green Capital Award (EGCA) pays tribute to Lahti’s long history of environmental action. Cities and urban environmental management and initiatives play an important role in tackling global environmental challenges.
Lahti introduces granule collectors for artificial turf fields as the first in Finland
Lahti – European Green Capital 2021, known for its environmental solutions, is introducing “Rouhesieppari” granule collectors to be installed in storm water wells in cooperation with the city’s water supply company Lahti Aqua. The granule collectors prevent the rubber granules from artificial turf fields from ending up in waterways with rain. The first granule collectors were installed at the Lahden Kisapuisto artificial turf field.
